π° WHAT HAPPENED
On February 5, the US Embassy in Warsaw announced it was cutting all contact with Sejm Deputy Speaker WΕodzimierz Czarzasty (of the Left party). The reason? Czarzasty publicly opposed a proposal to nominate Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Czarzasty had criticized Trump's tariffs on Europe and threats regarding Greenland. US Ambassador Thomas Rose called the comments 'outrageous and unprovoked.'
π΅π± POLAND'S RESPONSE
Prime Minister Donald Tusk responded on X (formerly Twitter):
'Mr. Ambassador Rose, allies should respect, not lecture, each other.'
When pressed by journalists, Ambassador Rose refused to specify exactly what insults Czarzasty had made.
